Twenty Collinsville Latin students competed and participated in the recent Illinois Junior Classical League North Convention in Skokie, Illinois. Collinsville placed 5th overall.

Latin teacher and club sponsor James Stark reported: "Our students are really going toe-to-toe with students from the highest-rated schools in the state.  We earned a total of 39 academic, artistic and creative awards at a convention of 184 Latin students.  

"Our Latin II Certamen Team earned 4th Place, and our entire delegation received 1st Place for Large School Spirit.

"In addition, Lillian Berg was elected as Parliamentarian for the ILJCL. This makes her the 2nd student in CHS history to be elected to the state board.  

"Aubrie Dietrich spent a good deal of the conference on stage debating members from other schools in an effort to pass an amendment that would make it easier for low income and rural students to serve on the state board. While it didn't pass this year, she managed to convince the opposing schools to revise the amendment proposal to a compromise point that should hopefully pass next year."
