Don’t forget that we are “Socking it to cancer” with Kellsie’s Hope.  Last year we raised over 6000 dollars for this worthy (and close to our hearts) cause.  Let’s see what we can do this year!

We participated in a “lock down” drill this morning.  Children and staff did an excellent job.  In the event of an emergency, children are instructed to listen to their teachers and follow their directions.  We are here to keep your children safe at school.  We take that job very seriously.

The parking lot in the back of the building is accessible ONLY from Camelot Drive.  There are “do not enter” signs into the parking lot from Golfview Drive to keep traffic flowing in the same direction and to keep your children safe.  Do not enter the parking lot at the end of the day from Golfview Drive.

Our first (and only) PTA fundraiser is to sell 1 dollar candy bars.  They come in boxes of 40.  Permission slips have already come home.  Send those back in if you want your child to participate.

The Collinsville Homecoming parade will travel down Main Street on Thursday, Sept. 28th at 4:30.

Please pay attention to the adult supervisors at drop off in the mornings.  The process can be expedited by pulling as far forward as possible and only making a right out of the driveway.  Those procedures are in place to keep kids safe (first and foremost) and to make things run as smoothly as possible.

Our first PTA meeting is tonight, Sept 14th at 6:00 in the school cafeteria.  We will go over the budget for the PTA for the year and activities planned for first semester.  If you can’t make this meeting, I always share the information in my weekly newsletter.

Call the office (346 6265) if your child is going to be absent for the day.  We call home on every student who isn’t at school each day.  It is helpful if you proactively make that call.

I always welcome volunteers and visitors to our building.  However, we do want to protect instructional time for students and teachers.  If you would like to visit your child’s classroom, you will need to set up an appointment to do that with the classroom teacher at least 24 hours in advance.  You can email or call the office to set that up.  If you plan to volunteer or make multiple visits, you will need to fill out our volunteer forms.

Tomorrow, Friday, 9/15 is a teacher institute day and there will be no school.
